Roaming Panama – Panama Canal – Modern Wonder Of The World

It is true.  I do get around.

One of the greatest engineering works of modern time is the Panama Canal.  I had a chance to visit Panama four months ago.  We took a tour of the canal and were able to watch ships pass through one “lock”.  The canal itself is about 48 miles in length and has several locks.  Take a look of my photos.  You can see the change in water level.  Once the ship is through the lock, it passes into the Pacific Ocean.

I’ve also posted photos of old Panama City.  These buildings are about 300 years old.  Many movies have been filmed here.  Usually scenes that occur in Cuba are actually filmed in Panama.  Some scenes from the next James Bond movie are being filmed in old town.

The Panama Canal Authority has a live feed cam that you can visit and see the movement of ships.  Check it out: http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html?cam=Miraflores
