Roaming Madrid – Watching A Movie At 35,000 Feet

with 2 comments

Last month I was on a flight from Tokyo to San Francisco and watched a movie with Dennis Quaid titled “The Vantage Point”.  What held my attention was not the movie but the location.  The location was the Plaza Major in Old Madrid.  Where the podium was located in the film was about 25 meters from where I enjoyed San Miguel beer, some Spanish ham that was out of this world, some cheese and bread in April.  I didn’t care about the movie.  I spent the two hours looking for places I visited.

By the way, the food and drink in Spain is spectacular.  We feasted on many dishes including roast suckling pig at the Botin Restaurant in Old Madrid to paella at a restaurant nearby.  And as much sangria and beer you can possibly drink.  By the way, the Botin is the world’s oldest restaurant.  It was opened in 1725.

  1. Yeah Yeah!!! “Someone” kept telling me how great the oldest restaurant was. Never been to Madrid but would love to visit there one day. ^_^

  2. It’s a great city. And the weather is warm. Although sometimes hot. The food at the Botin was great. I ordered the suckling pig but it was so much meat, I could not finish it. In fact by the time I left I swore off meat. Well for a week or so. 5555t
