A look at street fashions in Tokyo in black and white

Sometimes black and white photos convey a different feel from color photos.  There’s a purity that can be disguised by color.  With black and white, one only has the subjects of the photo.

Thundering herd

Thundering herd

When I was in Tokyo two weeks ago, I spent about one hour at Shinjuku.  And this corner was hectic.  But interesting.   One can’t help but get photos.

More Shinjuku street photos – torn jeans and off the shoulder

Waiting for what?

Waiting for what?

In the area outside the east entrance of the Shinjuku Station, you can see the most concentrated and diverse styles on the planet.  One thing for certain, there are plenty of people to look at.  And photograph.  They must be accustomed to this as no one ever pays attention to a camera taking photos.  I watched this particular lass for a few minutes.  I could never figure out what she was up to.  I was just grateful she was there.  Also take a look at the girl with the short skirt, fishnet stockings and the spike highheeled boots.  Indeed!

Also click on the photos to take a look at an enlarged image of the guys, or maybe girls, with the colorful wigs.  And all the different shoe styles.  Very interesting stuff.

Birds of a feather

Birds of a feather

One thing that is guaranteed in Tokyo.  That one can find many different styles of dress in very small concentrated areas.

I found this couple strutting over to the Shinjuku JR Station.  Oblivious to the world, justing paying attention to one another.  And frankly, I don’t blame them.  Double-click on the photos to enlarge.

Waiting for the train – Shinjuku Station, Tokyo

Hurry up and wait

Hurry up and wait.

One thing about living in the 21st Century, we do spend a lot of time waiting.  Whether its while your computer is booting up or for dinner or the train.  If someone spent some time analyzing every waking minute, a large amount of our time is consumed by…waiting.

I see you.

Roaming Shinjuku – Colorful lass with blue boots

with 3 comments

Between Shinjuku, Shibuya and Harajuku, one can see great variety in Japanese fashion.  This cute girl with the plaid dress topped off her outfit with blue suede boots.  And in both pics, check out the girl in the right background with her stiletto-heeled demi-boot with fakefur trim.

Am I blue?

Here I come.
