Roaming Vancouver – Cute baby feeding birds
While I was walking around Granville Island munching on a muffin and drinking cafe latte I ran across this little kid feeding the pigeons. Believe she was around two years old. Had no fear of the birds at all.
Cruise ship to Alaska from Vancouver
Vancouver is a cruise ship hub for Alaska. From what I’ve heard, this season’s travel is soon to end. The terminal at Canada Place is across the street from my hotel and there is a constant flow of people traveling to and from Alaska.
The cruise ships are spectacular, as the photo shows.
Vancouver Canada – Granville Island public market
The public market is one of the highlights of any visit to Vancouver. Not only is it a great place to buy food, there are many restaurants, shops and other attractions. You can spend the entire day just lounging around. Drinking coffee and eating a muffin for breakfast, having salmon for lunch, and crab for dinner. And shopping or people-watching in between. And the view of the sea and the mountains is unrivaled.
Vancouver graffiti girls
One could spend an entire day roaming the alleys of downtown Vancouver for interesting photos. There is some graffiti as I found in this one alley. Great stuff. Take a look at my other blog for more photos.
Roaming Vancouver – Mangosteen for sale!
Vancouver is one of the most picturesque cities I have ever visited. I have enough photos for a year. One of the most interesting places is the Public Market at Granville Island. Not only is it beautiful, there are many shops to browse. And the market even sells mangosteen. But look at the price!
Roaming Vancouver – Sushi on Robson St.
Last night we ate at Tsunami Sushi at 1025 Robson in Vancouver. I wasn’t expecting much when we got there. We were very hungry and since it was Friday night, we didn’t have much choice. The restaurant was completely filled, mainly with locals enjoying sushi, tempura and teriyaki. The sushi was good. Not the best I’ve had, but good. I am partial to uni (sea urchin) and hotate (scallop) sushi and both were exceptional. As both are locally supplied, they were also very fresh. And cheap. Uni (two pieces) for $4.25 Canadian and hotate for $2.95! In most Asian cities, uni is between $12 and $25.
One last point, this restaurant is not a high-end restaurant. It is an affordable family restaurant.
Roaming Vancouver Canada – Hotel walkabout
Yesterday I finally arrived in Vancouver. I haven’t been here for maybe 13 years and I have to say that it’s as beautiful as its ever been. As a waterfront city with a mountain backdrop, there is plenty to see. I took these photos from my hotel.
Dinosaur at the Chicago O’Hare International Aiport
This airport picturesque with somewhat of a art deco feel. It is one of the major hubs in the US.
Roaming Maldives by boat
The best way and almost the only way to get around the Maldives is by boat. From the Male airport to the resorts or to dive locations. Or anywhere else for that matter.
Roaming Thonglor – Le Notre restaurant
In the same complex as the House Of Beers is a branch of the Le Notre restaurant. They have great pastries and other goodies on the first floor. But the highlight is upstairs dining room. It is very airy with a great view of the area. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The cuisine is continental with some variety. The pricing is a bit above the norm but not unreasonable, given the quality of the food and the environs. It’s worth a try.
