Bangkok backyard – J Avenue Home Boy

with 4 comments

If you follow my blog you know that I live in the J Avenue area.  I was lucky the month I moved from Soi Lang Suan to Thonglor.  J Avenue opened.  J Avenue is known as a haunt of celebrities, trendy customers and expats.  All of that is true.  What it should be known for is its diverse restaurant choices.  From Greyhound and Ootoya for dinner to iBerry for desserts to Au Bon Pain for coffee, it’s all there.  But there’s more, there are a number of Japanese restaurants on the second floor as well as Chine Chine, a very good Chinese restaurant.  There’s even a new McDonalds.  And next door is An Lao Lao, a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Beijing Duck.

But the best thing about J Avenue is that it is a laidback vantage point to sip an espresso and people watch.  From hoity-toity types to actresses, poseurs to students, it’s all happening.

J Avenue is located at the corner of Thonglor and Soi 15.

Bangkok International Airport – Scenes from a lounge

leave a comment »

The Thai Airways business class lounge in Bangkok is one of the best in the world.  It is on par with the Singapore Airlines lounge in Singapore which has long been considered one of the best.

It is a good combination of design, excellent customer service, and comfort.  There are at least eight TG lounges at the airport.  The following photos were taken as I was sitting there having a breakfast sandwich with a spot of tea and some orange juice.  Very comfortable.

Check out TG website:  http://www.thaiair.com/Travel_Destination_Information/Royal_Orchid_Lounges/default.htm

Flying from Bangkok to Delhi to Mumbai

with 4 comments

Today was a very long day. From a 745am departure from Bangkok to Delhi. To a series of meetings in Delhi before an early evening flight to Mumbai. The domestic terminal in Mumbai is being completely redone. From new construction to the renovation of some sections, it is becoming quite an interesting structure. Take a look and see what you think.

Quite a structure

No, it's not a supermarket.

You should have seen it before
