Walking on the BTS elevated walkway from Chidlom to Siam Center

The Bangkok Skytrain has transformed the Sukhumvit Corridor over the ten or so years it has been in operation.  I use this system every chance I get.  It’s convenient.

A few years ago, an elevated walkway was built between the Chidlom Station and Siam Center Station.  Since then you have the option of riding the train one stop or walking the 1 kilometer distance on the walkway between the stations.  I prefer to walk the distance because there is so much to see.

And the walkway has access to many shopping outlets, starting with Central Department store, then Amarin Plaza, Gaysorn Plaza, Erawan Shopping, Central World and then the assorted Siam Center shopping centers, including Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, Siam Center, and Siam Square.  I would venture a guess that the shopping area from Central Department Store to Siam Center is one of the largest retail areas in the world.  (And a few hundred meters away is MBK Shopping Center at National Stadium Station.)

However, there are also other sights to see on the walk besides retail.

But in these times, the heart and soul (if you can call it that) of the area is retail.  Big time.  Stay tuned for more photos next time that give you a flavor on this shopping district.
