Singapore’s Boat Quay – walking from the Fullerton Hotel to Elgin Bridge

Boat Quay by Elgin Bridge

Boat Quay near Elgin Bridge

Over the years Boat Quay has been transformed from a slightly rundown area with karaoke bars to its current position as a favorite hangout for Singaporeans and foreigners working in the nearby financial district.   And others who enjoy a potpourri  of different cuisines and libations.  In addition to food from the corners of the world offered by dozens of restaurants, there are many pubs that will quench your thirst on a hot and muggy Singapore evening.  And most places have outdoor seating along the river if you’re so inclined.

One of my favorite pastimes is to walk the “circuit” from the Fullerton Hotel through Boat Quay to Elgin Bridge and arond to the other side of the Singapore River, ending up at the Fullerton for a nightcap.  Or maybe back at Boat Quay. At the Penny Black Pub for a Stella.
