Taking the Bangkok Skytrain to National Stadium station

Not a train in sight.

I consider the National Stadium station a must visit because this is the stop for the MBK shopping center, one of the two shopping sites that I always recommend to visitors.  The selection at MBK is huge and will fit any budget.

The best way to travel there is by the Skytrain. These photos show a very colorful train arriving at the National stadium station.  For additional revenue, BTS, the operator, sells ad space on the exterior (and interior) of the train car.  It makes for a colorful view.
